Halloween 2010

A bit of steampunk influence, obviously.. but you know I always like to put a bit of a horror twist into all my costumes.

So, as last year I was leaning towards "vampire," this year it was more towards "demon."

Many hours went into making this.

You can't see many details in this photo, but if I can stay focused (and if anyone cares, lol) I may submit a few more.

Vest, shirt, corset belt, bustle, skirt, underskirt, and spats were all handmade by yours truly. (Black faux suede vest was not finished yet)

Accessories included a net sling belt holding an antique elixir bottle, metal-and-wire trinket box, a (fake) mini skull, a small wire cage with chicken bones and feathers inside, a set of copper keys, a turkey leg bone , and a potion bottle filled with shells, small bones, stones, and various metal curiosities. I also brought along my favorite bronze lantern, and wore metal wrist cuffs with chains added (supplies purchased at various hobby stores), earrings handmade by myself that featured copper hoops, chicken vertebrae and copper-toned metal gear stampings, and a necklace (which I also made) featuring fox jaw bones wrapped with bronze-toned wire, with a vintage thrift-store necklace taken apart and integrated into the design.

Hat was a cheap, plain black felt hat from a costume shop to which I added the pleather with corset lacing, fabric scraps and trim, feathers, silk flowers, clock parts, wires, chicken bones, and an ermine skull.

And yes, of course, I wore my synthetic dreads and my white cat-eye contacts.

Whew.

I'm actually kindof glad Halloween is over with. This costume was a lot of work for just one day. Here's to hoping I'll have other opportunities to wear it! Perhaps at conventions or something.
